When installing an air conditioning unit in a house, apartment, or office, it’s important to understand the space you want to condition.
Air conditioning units come in various sizes, and knowing the capacity required to meet your needs is crucial before making a purchase.
There are different sizes of air conditioners depending on the brand chosen by the customer.
At SetPoint Panama, we offer various Mini Split Lennox units in the following sizes to meet any need:
- 9,000 BTU
- 12,000 BTU
- 18,000 BTU
- 24,000 BTU
- 36,000 BTU
What are BTUs?
BTU (British Thermal Unit) measures the amount of heat an air conditioning unit can extract from a room.
For example, 1 BTU is the amount of heat needed to raise the temperature of 1 lb of water by 1°F.
Essentially, the higher the BTU, the greater the cooling capacity of the air conditioner. An air conditioner with insufficient BTUs may not adequately cool the room, or it may take too long to do so, especially if the outside temperature is very high.
The same space may require different capacities depending on its use and application.
What Other Recommendations Can a Professional Provide?
A knowledgeable professional can offer several recommendations in addition to the appropriate size of the air conditioner, including:
- The need for an inverter air conditioner
- The optimal location for the air conditioner
- Ideal temperatures for maximum comfort
- Maintenance tips
